A message from our past Gamma president
I moved across the country about a week after graduation to pursue a nationally-accredited fellowship at one of the best, if not the best, journalism schools in the nation. Throughout the period of stress and adjustment, I found myself constantly leaning back on skills I learned as a member of Gamma Chapter. The organization and communication I learned as Vice President of External Affairs helped me streamline my work — a complex project looking at the state of American democracy ahead of the 2024 election — into something easily understood by any audience. The confidence and collaboration I gained as Chapter President helped me advocate for my ideas in a room of the top journalism students and experts while also being able to work with my peers to execute a comprehensive glimpse at the treatment of those on the frontlines of our democracy. I would not be the co-worker, colleague or person I am without the leadership skills and experiences I had during my time as a Butler Theta. I’m forever grateful and humbled to know that I have a sisterhood that will continue to foster the best parts of myself even post-grad.
